Oh what a time to be alive, a time where women are standing up, speaking up and showing up.
I have never been prouder to be a woman then I am now in this generation. We have come a long way from the days of our oppressors and there is no chance in hell we will ever turn back, turn a blind eye or keep our mouths shut. We have so much to say, offer and give.
Being a woman comfortable in her own skin is an ongoing battle, yet one we endure with absolute grace. Talking about body positivity is an ongoing discussion, not an event. It’s our duty as women to continue to speak words of empowerment unto our fellow woman. We gain no power from tearing down another woman’s appearance. Each and every one of us is beautiful in our own right.
Wake up each and every day and make a conscious decision to love yourself for who you are and then live it in everything you do, with everyone you encounter and especially with yourself.
Losing weight does NOT cure negative body image! Size has nothing to do with how you perceive yourself. Let’s take the “weight” stigma out as the only reason women suffer from negative body image. It’s far more comprehensive and intuitive than that.
Objective beauty – What society sees as beautiful – Run away from this as fast as you can. This definition of beauty changes just as fast as the trends in fashion. There is nothing beautiful and confident about being a sheep.
Perceived beauty – This is you, you as a package. Your laugh, your movements, your ways, your freckles. How do others perceive you? Not important, the question you should be asking; How do I perceive myself? Allow your uniqueness to come forward. Embrace your individuality.
Don’t allow our next generation of women to get caught up in these ridiculous and objective beauty standards. Let’s pave the way so that they may create new standards for the world. Most importantly live every day with a purpose; your body is beautiful, time to break the mould!
