Halloween, one of my all-time favorite times of the year. Any excuse to get dressed up is my idea of a good time. Ask any of my friends what I would say when asked for birthday party ideas – “Let’s do a theme and dress up” this is my response 99% of the time. I think this it has a lot to do with my days as a drama student. Being on stage every week brought out the performer in me, and this is something I have never lost. As a drama student, you can become someone new each week, you have the luxury of tapping into your creative side and thus creating a temporary world of purr blissful fantasy.
Dressing up whether it be for Halloween or some fancy-dress party, has that same effect. For a couple of hours, you are someone else and there is a crazy beautiful feeling to that. It’s so very important to me to step out of the real world and just let my hair loose and have some fun. Life gets overwhelming at times and there’s nothing more exhilarating then the power of a good dress up to get you out of your funk.
Naturally knowing Halloween was around the corner I took the opportunity to do a Halloween inspired shoot. I couldn’t think of a better person to shoot with then the ever-gorgeous Sherri-Lee Greenway from SA Fashion Girl . I have been girl crushing on this beauty and her ever changing hair for quite some time now. With a shared love for colorful & crazy hair and of course tattooed studs (wink, wink) It made or meet up and blog collaboration that much more FUN. As Sherri and I got chatting throughout makeup and our drive through to our location, I realized just how similar we both are in our way of thinking and our craving to be different in a world that’s over populated with sheep. Doing this shoot and the amount of attention we got walking the streets of town kind of makes me wish Halloween was every day. Excited is an understatement to describe my emotions to do this shoot. Sherri was an absolute pleasure to shoot with and our chemistry on set shines through in our photos. I’m looking forward to more creative shoots like these in the near future.
Please do yourself a favor and check out Sherri’s recent blog post, that opening scene really creates a nostalgic feeling for this weekend’s past events.
