Negativity is something you’ll always have to deal with. It’s part of life. It doesn’t matter whether your fat or thin, rich or poor, negativity will always be a factor. Curvaceous Angels – How Junette deals with Negativity

Negative comments and bullying within social media use to really bother me. It had especially bothered me when I started shooting for Donna. This was a time in my career when I became very active on social media. Naturally, when you become active on any social media platform you open the doors to internet trolls. And believe me when I say, “this” part of the job is not something you can prepare for. You need to develop a thick skin and continue on with a positive attitude.Continue reading →

Curvaceous Angels – Charnelle’s road to confidence

I believe that beauty comes from within, your outside appearance doesn’t determine your beauty. I’ve always been the type of person to believe that. Take note the next time you are around someone with a beautiful soul, their beauty reflects outward and has that entire rooms attention. Continue reading →

Curvaceous Angels – Simone’s road to confidence

When it came to diets and tablets, you name it I had done it. “I’m on a diet” had been my catch phrase since grade 7. There were times where I would put my health at risk just so that I could conform to what society deemed as acceptable. The craziest thing I ever did was starve myself and pop pills in order to suppress my appetite. There were certain standards that I had engraved in my mind, and I was willing to cause harm to myself just so that I could “fit” in. If I knew then what I know now, I would have never put so much pressure on myself. I have now developed an ‘I don’t care’ attitude when it comes to the negative opinions of others, especially when it concerns my weight and body type. When I think back to my struggles, I could kick myself for allowing others to control so much of myself for so many years. Continue reading →

Curvaceous Angels – Junette’s road to Confidence

“I will never forget how I felt when my boyfriend at the time would emotionally mistreat me. He would buy clothing that was 4 sizes too small for me. He would say “this is a little inspiration for you” He would make me gym 3 times a day and I still wasn’t thin enough or good enough for him. Eventually he had cheated on me with a thinner girl. The worst part was, he made me believe it was my fault.”  Continue reading →

Curvaceous Angels – Meet Simone

I’m a Cape Town lady since day one. I spent most of my childhood in Namibia with my Father, older brother and Grandparents. I am the youngest of 4 children and also the only girl. Fashion didn’t exist for me growing up, my wardrobe consisted of my brothers hand me downs. Growing up in the Northern Suburbs was not so easy. Primary school was probably the worst years of my life. I was constantly teased for being overweight. We made the great trek to the southern suburbs when my mom remarried, that day I got the gift of a second dad and 2 older brothers.Continue reading →

Curvaceous Angles – Meet Junette

A farm girl born in Ventersdorp, a small town in the North West Province of South Africa. Later raised in Middelburg, a town known as the cultural heartland of Mpumalanga. Junette was brought up in a very conservative family and the community in which she lived was no different. Being a confident woman was frowned upon in those times. Women were only to wear lose fitting clothing, the type that covered you up from head to toe. Young girls were taught from a young age that being thin meant you were beautiful. Can you imagine growing up in a time and place where your size mattered? Where beauty was defined by the shape of your body. Continue reading →
